FIRST... If you are in the beginning stages of planning your new project your first step should be to spend some time with the photography in our catalogue. Get a feel for whether you lean towards log or timber frame - or a mixture of both. This can best be accomplished by looking through our 56-page Catalogue and going through our interactive CD-ROM. Many of the plans on our CD-ROM can be edited using Broderbund's 3-D Home Architect Software. To order our catalog and CD-ROM, click HERE Once you get an idea about building systems and general aesthetic prefereces, start preliminary work on your design
NEXT... All situations are different, but a very rough rule of thumb is to start designing a custom home about a year in advance of the start of construction. Of course, we can move much more quickly than that (particularly with a standard plan) - and some projects take even more than a year of planning and design work. Call us and we'll help guid you through the process. At this stage, it is imperative to already have purchased your property, as we need to know the lay of the land, etc... this stage would place you in the 6-12 months range before you begin building. Please review our Design/Drafting/Delivery Scheduling InformationSheet
NEXT... Probably one of the most important decisions you will make while planning your new home is where it will be located. The size of your property and lay of the land will greatly determine the stylwe and size of the structure you will build, as well as determining your overall investment. This knowledge helps us determine which stage of the planning process you are currently in so we can provide the proper service and make you aware of any time sensitive offers or promotions.
FINALLY...
Once design is finished and a Purchase Agreement is signed, final planning for your home can be completed your home will be crafted in Dandridge, transported to your site, and erected by one of our trained crews - or by your crew and our on-site technical assistance. After the heavy timber (and panels for your timber frame if required) are erected on the foundation that your builder has already installed, your builder takes over and finishes the home employing usual and customary construction techniques and local craftsmen. Should you need a contractor, we have a network of builders we have worked with throughout the nation.
REMEMBER...
EARLY AND EXTENSIVE DESIGN AND PLANNING WILL DRAMATICALLY IMPROVE THE ENTIRE PROCESS.
